How to wash dancewear: a care guide for longer life

Dancewear faces sweat, friction and stretching every day. With the right care it lasts longer and looks like new.

1. Air it right away

Don't leave clothes in the bag after class; air them as soon as you take them off. Moisture is the main cause of odour and fading.

2. 30 °C and a laundry bag

Turn leotards and tights inside out, put them in a laundry bag and wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle with similar colours.

3. No softener or bleach

Softener weakens elastane fibres and bleach damages colour and fabric. A mild detergent is enough.

4. No tumble dryer

Heat permanently reduces stretch. Dry clothes in the shade, flat or on a hanger.

5. No ironing needed

Most dancewear needs no ironing. If needed, iron chiffon skirts at the lowest setting under a cloth.
